Rose was found in the middle of nowhere around Lubbock, Texas. She was so very skinny I could count the bones in her tail.
She was also very feisty and bit me daily.
She had dementia and although I didn't have her long-- she left her mark on me.
I was there when she went Home and I knew without a doubt she loved me as deeply as I loved he

In the end she knew love beyond measure and sometimes that's all that matters
He was named Goose because when he barked it sounded just like a honking goose.
He was found on a frontage road off of I-27.
Goose had very little teeth so his tongue was always hanging out and his favorite thing to do was sleep.
Many of his pictures are of him sleeping. He LOVED to be held and carried like a baby.
He went to sleep one night and went Home without telling me..
Daisy actually came to me before the idea of Maggie's was even an idea. However, I wanted to include her. She touched my heart in a very special way.

Daisy came from a hoarding situation. Because there were so many chihuahuas, Daisy didn't get enough to eat and was very weak when she came to me. One of her pupils was larger than the other because of head trauma she had suffered.
She ran like a jack rabbit. Daisy found a furever home but she ran away looking for me. She was hit by a car.
She will always live in my heart.
Old Man's original name was Stubbs because he didn't have a tail. Maggie's Chihuahua Refuge was contacted and asked to care for him when his owner was no longer able to do so. He was expected to live a few weeks but he stayed with us for a year or more.
I so miss his silly grin and his quiet loving ways.
Yes-- Soldier is NOT a chihuahua. I got a call from the pound in Dumas. He was a senior that was having trouble walking on his hind end. I took him in and after multiple tests, it was determined that he had been hit by a car.
His injuries were extensive but he didn't seem to be in pain so I took him home for a last few days.

Soldier touched many lives at the pound, transport, future rescue and on facebook. After a couple of days of totally spoiling. I had to escort him HOME. He was ready, he wanted to run and play and his earthly body would not let him do that.
He was my brave Soldier
Miss Lily came to me from the Tulia pound. She had massive lacerations, no teeth and a deteriorating jaw. She had given up on life.. I was thankful she decided to give Maggie's a chance and after several weeks she took over the place.
She was very much into living and enjoying life.
She went Home one night without telling me.. I miss her terribly
Miss Gia had many health issues when she came to me. She wasn't with me very long but she was loved tremendously. She was always "mad" at me when she wasn't chosen to do the TikToks. I will always miss her barking in the back ground when one of the other dogs was being showcased. She LOVED attention. She was so tiny , she always got her food on her "chin"
Miss Trina came to me three years ago from the Bushland pound. She had a heart murmur and congestive heart failure. At the time the vet gave her 6 months to live but she stayed with me over 2 years.
Trina had very expressive eyes. She was my worrier. She worried about everything. But she trusted me.

I will so miss her "cussing me out" when I got home from work. Roo--rooo lol.
In the end she had 2 heart murmurs, final stages of CHF and middle stages of renal failure. She went quietly in my arms after a short trip to Kansas. She waited to get home... to go Home.
Cloud was born a tri-pod. His mother was a hateful shed cat, but Cloud was super loving and kind.
He was so loving, he slept with Loki. He loved going to Walmart and other stores.
Not only was he an excellent emotional support cat for Loki, we had planned on taking him to the hospital to visit other children.
Cloud was a one-of a kind and we will miss him terribly.
Sully came to me before there was a Maggie's Chihuahua Refuge. His owner could no longer take care of him and he was in the Bushland pound when I got him. He was a quiet old soul that loved to sleep and watch T.V. He was injured and had to learn to use a wheelchair, however, he preferred being carried. He never barked and rarely made a sound. He took a piece of my heart with him.
Cali was found as a stray that needed immediate medical attention. I asked the vet to give me a few days with her at the refuge so she could know love. I fully expected to escort her Home after the weekend. Cali had other plans and has been with us for a several months. She started to love life again here at Maggie's Chihuahua Refuge. However, cancer took over and Cali chose to go Home.

Coco was so inquisitive about everything. She was everywhere looking into things but her absolute fave was watching TV in my lap. Every show was her fave as long as she was being held. She was a lover and cuddler. I miss her impish ways.
Ben came to Maggie's during the Pandemic. He was found as a stray. Ben was a stoic old man, very serious and an introvert. He lost an eye when he got in a fight with a cat. He was partly paralyzed because of an accident. Yet he always made me laugh. If he got in a situation, he would just sit and wait because he knew I would come find him. He took my heart.
